Ownership
Built for Credit Unions. Shared with Credit Unions.
A different ownership model for a different kind of platform. Murmuration is being built to create long-term value with the credit union movement, not simply to sell technology to it.
Shared with the movement
5%
of Murmuration is set aside for participating Credit Unions — 1% founding, 1% early adopters, 3% wider participation pool.
Long-term backing
95% held by Distinctly Fin, funding and operating the platform.
A different ownership model
Long-term value with the movement — not just technology sold to it.
Every participating Credit Union will have the opportunity to share in the ownership of the platform, while Distinctly Fin provides the investment, backing and long-term commitment required to build and operate it.
That means the organisations using Murmuration are not only customers of the platform. They can be part-owners of it.

The usual model
A supplier sells a system. The value created stays with the supplier.
The Murmuration model
The Credit Unions using the platform share in the value it creates.
How ownership is shared
Four groups. One aligned structure.
Ownership is allocated across three credit union tiers and the founder-backed owner that funds and operates the platform.
Founding Credit Unions
The first 10 participating Credit Unions collectively own 1% of Murmuration, divided equally.
Early Adopters
The next 20 participating Credit Unions collectively own a further 1%, divided equally.
Participating Credit Unions
A further 3% is reserved in a participation pool for other Credit Unions using Murmuration, so ownership continues to be shared as the network grows.
Distinctly Fin
The remaining 95% is owned by Distinctly Fin, founded and backed by entrepreneur Matthew Sanders, providing the capital, experience and long-term commitment behind Murmuration.
The wider Credit Union community
Ownership keeps being shared as the network grows.
The founding and early adopter allocations recognise the Credit Unions who commit first. The 3% participation pool means those who join later are not shut out — ownership continues to extend across the movement as more Credit Unions come onto the platform.
The earlier a Credit Union joins, the larger its individual share.
Long-term backing
Founder-backed. Commercially strong. Built to last.
The remaining 95% is owned by Distinctly Fin, founded and backed by entrepreneur Matthew Sanders, providing the capital, experience and long-term commitment behind Murmuration.
Building and operating a platform of this kind takes sustained investment. That backing is what allows ownership to be shared with the movement while the platform continues to be developed, supported and funded.
Investment and commitment behind the platform. Ownership shared with the sector it serves.
Aligned from day one
When Murmuration succeeds, participating Credit Unions should share in that success.
Our ownership model is designed to keep the platform commercially strong, founder-backed and closely aligned with the sector it exists to serve.
Commercially strong
Sustained investment and a clear commercial model behind the platform.
Founder-backed
Capital, experience and long-term commitment from Distinctly Fin.
Aligned with the sector
The Credit Unions using Murmuration share in the value it creates.
